Casual Hotels announces the signing of its second hotel in Athens
16/07/2025July 16, 2025. Barely a month and a half after the opening of its first hotel in Greece, the hotel chain Casual Hoteles has just announced its second project in the Hellenic country. It is an 87-room hotel with a rooftop featuring views of the Parthenon, located just 150 meters from Athens' central Omonia Square. The establishment will undergo a complete renovation and is scheduled to open its doors in mid-2026 under a lease agreement, just like its first hotel in Athens.
The operation marks the start of the Valencian group's expansion in Greece, a country where on June 1st it inaugurated the Casual Kubic Athens, a 112-room hotel that has become the company's largest in Europe. This first step in the Greek market has laid the foundations to continue developing Casual Hoteles' presence in a region with great tourism and growth potential.
With this new addition, Casual Hoteles reaffirms its goal of reaching 30 hotels in 2026 and continues to strengthen its position as a benchmark for themed urban accommodation at affordable prices in Europe.
According to Juan Carlos Sanjuán, president of Casual Hoteles, "entering Greece is proving to be very positive for us. The local market offers numerous opportunities to continue growing and consolidating our offering in Europe. With Hotel Ionis, we are reinforcing our commitment to Athens and reaffirming our pledge to expansion in this country. Furthermore, we continue to work on the opening of a new hotel in Naples by the end of the year and are exploring new possibilities in the markets where we are already present: Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. We do not rule out the incorporation of new countries into our network."
Casual Kubic Athens: the first Casual Hoteles hotel in Greece is now operational:
The Casual Kubic Athens, the chain's first establishment in Greece, opened its doors on June 1st in a privileged location next to Omonia Square, in the heart of Athens. With 112 modern and functional rooms, the hotel positions itself as the company's largest in Europe, offering its guests a unique urban experience, combining comfort and themed design.
Among its services, highlights include a full breakfast buffet, café, gym, massage room, and a rooftop with a solarium that provides spectacular views of the Parthenon, located just a 10-minute drive away. Furthermore, Casual Kubic Athens is inspired by Cubism, an artistic movement that resonated in Greek architecture and art of the early 20th century, adding a distinctive and cultural character to the accommodation.

They are fun, surprising, and provocative, making Casual Hoteles a disruptive chain that, in 2018, was recognized with the Hostelco Award for "Best Hotel Concept"; in 2023, it obtained the First Prize for Sustainable Tourism from HOSBEC, in the category of "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy"; in 2024 it was chosen as "Chain with the best Corporate Social Responsibility" at the XIV Edition of the Roca Awards for Hotel Initiative; and in 2025 it has been chosen as the "Best Hotel Chain in Valencia" in the first edition of the Tourism Awards organized by Levante-EMV.
In this sense, the group also stands out for its policy of firm social and environmental commitment through its own Code of Ethics, and for its collaborations with NGOs such as UNICEF, among others.
Currently, Casual Hoteles has 26 hotels and 1,005 rooms in 16 cities across Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece, of which 1 is managed, 17 are operated under a lease agreement, and 8 are franchised.
