November 7, 2025. Casual Hoteles reinforces its commitment to sustainability and ecological regeneration with the creation of a second "Bosque Casual" (Casual Forest) in Portugal, a new phase of its environmental project that expands its positive impact beyond Spanish borders.

According to Juan Carlos Sanjuán, president of Casual Hoteles, “the decision to locate this new forest in Portugal responds to the desire to localize the company's social and environmental impact, strengthening its bond with the countries where it has hotel operations. Currently, Casual Hoteles has two hotels in Porto and one in Lisbon, from which guests were already offered the possibility of participating in the Casual Forest project by voluntarily waiving the room cleaning service. From now on, the funds generated in Portugal will be invested directly in Portuguese land, promoting a local environmental and social impact.”

A new Casual Forest in Portugal to regenerate the Alentejo and revitalize its natural landscape:

The Casual Forest of Portugal will be implemented in the Alentejo region, through a collaboration with ReTree and with the support of local rural communities. The project aims to recover land degraded by overgrazing and intensive eucalyptus plantations, restore soil fertility, reintroduce native Mediterranean species, and favor the resilience of the local ecosystem.

The initiative, which began in October 2024, includes the planting of up to 100,000 trees, including holm oaks, cork oaks, stone pines, and strawberry trees, all species adapted to Mediterranean ecosystems and fundamental for the regeneration of local biodiversity.

In addition to its environmental impact, the project will generate rural employment during the planting and maintenance phases and will promote collaboration with local entities to ensure sustainable land management. In this way, the Casual Forest of Portugal will contribute to revitalizing degraded natural areas and mitigating the effects of climate change.

A sustainable model that is growing: the Casual Forest in Spain is now approaching 2,000 trees:

The launch of the Casual Forest of Portugal adds to the success of the Casual Forest in Spain, located in Perales de la Alfama (Teruel), which is about to reach 2,000 trees planted since its creation less than a year ago. This pioneering initiative allows the chain's guests to contribute to reforestation by voluntarily waiving the cleaning service during their stay, allocating those savings to the planting of new trees.

Since its launch, the Casual Forest has demonstrated the real commitment of the company's customers and employees to sustainability, managing to restore ecosystems, reduce CO₂ emissions, and generate rural employment in areas affected by depopulation.

To date, the project has allowed for the planting of 1,945 trees, the regeneration of 2 hectares of land, the saving of 20 m³ of water—equivalent to about two domestic swimming pools—and the generation of 583 hours of rural employment, benefiting more than 70 people in natural environments.

With this new stage in the neighboring country, Casual Hoteles consolidates a model of responsible and participatory tourism capable of generating a direct positive impact in both Spain and Portugal.
