Prevent your pet from getting lost during the holidays

On August 26, 2024. Casual Hoteles pioneered the pet-friendly hotel industry by being the first chain to allow pet reservations at its hotels through its website, incorporating an additional checkbox to the usual ones for adults and children.

A prominence that the group has been nurturing since its creation 11 years ago, making these pet reservations free of charge at its 25 establishments (maximum 2 pets per reservation) if made through the chain's website (www.casualhoteles.com); and creating a welcome kit for pets as a courtesy gift, which includes a sleeping bed, a food bowl, a water bowl, and a snack upon arrival.

New smart gift for your pet:

Casual Hoteles wanted to go further and, thanks to an agreement with Dogotea, one of the most innovative companies in the pet care sector, to carry out a pilot plan that integrates an additional smart gift into its pet welcome kit.

Initially, this is being applied in 3 of its most emblematic pet-friendly hotels in Spain and Portugal, meaning that since August 1st, customers staying with pets at the Casual Las Olas San Sebastián, Casual Belle Époque Lisboa, and Casual Raizes Porto hotels will receive a smart identification tag as a complementary gift (during the trial period of this initiative, units will be limited).

The tag that Dogotea uses to connect animals with its pioneering app stands out for being waterproof and not requiring batteries, as its data is read via NFC or a QR code.

In this way, if your dog gets lost during your vacation, you can immediately notify the Dogotea community through its app, and communicate in real-time with the people who find it via WhatsApp message, Telegram, or phone call.

Furthermore, by registering on the Dogotea app and website, you can start enjoying many other benefits such as including your pet's medical information and vaccinations in your profile, in case someone outside your circle needs to access them at any time. It is also possible to manage other aspects related to its care such as measurements, feeding guidelines, and expense tracking, among many other benefits.

Access to a global pet-friendly community:

The agreement signed by Casual Hoteles and Dogotea also includes 16 of the chain's hotels in the pet-friendly hotel recommendations offered on its website. Another of Dogotea's most interesting aspects is that, often thanks to recommendations from its users, it has created a global community of pet lovers, eager for suggestions of places they can visit with their pets during their vacations and travels. From restaurants, museums, amusement parks, and beaches, to, of course, hotels like those that the Valencian chain Casual has in Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

Summer: the peak season for traveling with pets:

During the first 8 months of 2024, Casual Hoteles establishments booked more than 1,400 pet packs, compared to the 1,261 offered during the same period last year. During that time, the chain's hotel that received the most visits from tourists accompanied by pets was Casual Las Olas San Sebastián, with a total of 401 pets. Following closely are Casual con Duende Cádiz, and the hotels Casual Belle Époque Lisboa and Casual Raizes Porto in Portugal, a country that is increasingly visited by pet lovers.

According to Casual Hoteles, throughout the year, summer, especially July and August, along with Christmas, is the time of year when the most clients travel with pets.

Discover the profile of a tourist traveling with pets:

According to Casual Hoteles, the data from clients who stayed at their establishments with pets this summer reveals a typical tourist profile, characterized as follows: they are couples traveling without children, with an average age of 44 years, and their average stay is 1.86 days. Most make their reservations 25 days in advance, a slightly higher figure than in the summer of 2023, when the advance notice was 22 days.

In terms of nationality, for Casual Hoteles, Spaniards led this type of travel with 41%, although foreigners accounted for the remaining 59%. At the European level, this summer saw a notable presence of tourists traveling with dogs, cats, and other pets from France, Italy, and Germany, with 9%, 7%, and 6% respectively.
