Full capacity expected for the Fallas festival in Valencia and good prospects for Holy Week in Andalusia

Full capacity expected for the Fallas festival in Valencia and good prospects for Holy Week in Andalusia

March 12, 2026. A few days before the start of Las Fallas, and in a context where instability is strengthening globally, the hotel industry seems to confirm the resilient nature of Spanish tourism in times of crisis.

Good occupancy throughout the month of March and full capacity during Las Fallas:

According to the president and founder of Casual Hoteles, Juan Carlos Sanjuán, “for the moment, the tension in the Middle East is not affecting our tourism. In the case of the 5 hotels we have in Valencia, from March 13th to 19th, expected occupancy is between 90% and 95%, and on Saint Joseph's Day, it is approaching 100%.”

Furthermore, he adds, “during the Fallas month, we are observing that tourist activity is spread over more days, which will allow the hospitality sector to relieve pressure on its services and generate income more consistently. After a complicated 2025, Valencia seems to be regaining its stability.”

Europeans will continue to travel, and Spain is seen as a safe haven destination:

Regarding the other major tourist event, Easter, Juan Carlos Sanjuán is also optimistic, especially concerning the hotels the chain has in Andalusia.

Far from the paralysis that one might fear after recent geopolitical events, explains Juan Carlos Sanjuán, “Spain can become, as it has on previous occasions, a safe haven destination. We Europeans are the ones who move the most, and for the moment, we have decided to continue traveling.”

In this context, the forecasts for the establishments that Casual Hoteles has in Andalusia—Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, and Granada—he concludes, “are very good, and show an increase in demand for accommodation -room nights- of 48.67% compared to Easter 2025.”

By nationality, he adds, “bookings made by the Spanish market have increased by 98.04%, but those that have grown the most to date have been from Austria and Belgium, with increases of 750% and 220%, respectively. Given the current context, those from the American market stand out, which for now reflect an increase of 180% compared to Easter 2025, with Granada being their preferred destination.”

With these figures, he concludes, “in the short term in Spain, we have no data to worry about at a hotel level.”

Casual Hoteles, a chain that turns every hotel into a narrative universe:

Casual Hoteles was born in Spain with a clear conviction: to travel is also to interpret the world. Since its foundation in Valencia in 2013 by Juan Carlos Sanjuán, the chain has worked so that each hotel is more than a place to sleep; it is a narrative universe in which design, creativity, and local identity merge. Its network spans cities as diverse as Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, Benidorm, Bilbao, Cadiz, Granada, Malaga, San Sebastian, Seville, and Ibiza in Spain; Lisbon and Porto in Portugal; Florence and Milan in Italy; and Athens in Greece.

In each of these cities, Casual Hoteles deploys its theme-based philosophy: every accommodation has personal decor inspired by the soul of its destination and offers central locations, high quality standards, and accessible prices. This disruptive creativity has been recognized with awards such as the Hostelco for Best Hotel Concept, as well as awards in sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Additionally, Casual Hoteles integrates sustainability and solidarity as strategic pillars of its business model through initiatives such as its solidarity policy, the Bosque Casual environmental project—aimed at offsetting the carbon footprint through reforestation—and the Solidarity Room, which allocates part of its income to support social causes. The chain maintains a firm Code of Ethics and is committed to responsible growth that places people and the planet at the center of its activity. Today, with 26 hotels and 1,005 rooms in 16 cities in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece, Casual Hoteles reaffirms its ambition for cultural and thematic expansion, making each hotel a manifesto of a journey with meaning.

Casual Hoteles, chosen as "Best hotel chain in Valencia" at the Levante-EMV Tourism Awards 2025

July 4, 2025. The Valencian chain Casual Hoteles has been recognized as the “Best Hotel Chain in Valencia” in the first edition of the Tourism Awards organized by Levante-EMV, the award ceremony for which took place yesterday aboard the mega-cruise ship MSC Grandiosa, docked at the Port of Valencia.

The ceremony was attended by the Regional Secretary for Tourism, José Manuel Camarero; the Territorial Director of Cajamar, Jesús García; and the Director of Levante-EMV, Joan-Carles Martí, among other prominent figures in the sector. Awards were presented in ten categories, recognizing outstanding destinations, experiences, companies, and professionals in Valencian tourism.

These awards, promoted with the support of Viajar magazine, MSC Cruises, Cajamar, Fotur, Visit Valencia, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and Iryo, were created with the goal of recognizing and increasing the visibility of the main benchmarks of the tourism sector in the Valencian Community, highlighting the innovation, sustainability, and excellence that drive regional tourism development.

According to Juan Carlos Sanjuán, founder and president of Casual Hoteles, “receiving this award in our homeland, in Valencia, where it all began, is a very special honor for us. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to the city that saw us born and drives us to continue innovating and growing based on our values.”

The awards ceremony concluded with a reception and a networking session aboard the MSC Grandiosa, which brought together the main tourism agents of the region to celebrate and strengthen the sector.

Casual Hoteles: “Best Hotel Chain in Valencia”:

Founded in 2013 by Valencian businessman Juan Carlos Sanjuán, Casual Hoteles is a project born and rooted in Valencian soil, which has successfully projected its creative and disruptive spirit beyond our borders. The chain, with 6 hotels in the Valencian Community and a presence in 16 cities across Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece, now totals 26 establishments and more than 1,000 rooms, with expansion plans for 2025 and 2026 in Naples and Athens.

The Casual Hoteles model is based on offering a unique experience during every stay, theming their hotels according to the cultural and local identity of each destination. A prominent example is the Casual Socarrat Valencia hotel, whose interior design pays artistic and festive tribute to the Fallas, turning the stay into a cultural and sensory journey from the very first moment.

Juan Carlos Sanjuán’s relationship with his homeland has also been manifested in the promotion of solidarity initiatives, such as support for those affected by the DANA and the sponsorship of local sports, collaborating with teams such as CB Picken Claret and Valencia Basket, among other initiatives.

Casual Hotels reaches 7 million and plans to reach 25 hotels

Casual Hotels reaches 7 million and plans to reach 25 hotels

The themed hotel chain Casual Hotels has today announced the opening of a new establishment in the city of Barcelona, in what is its first opening since 2019 and since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hotel - whose name will be Casual Colors Barcelona - has 48 urban-style rooms following the model that the chain has been popularizing in the last decade.

This new opening is part of the chain's strategy of consolidating its operations, after a period of effort in which the company has focused on reaching the billing ratios it had before the pandemic.

The establishment has been themed and designed taking the history of Barcelona as a common thread, with the aim that visitors can bathe in the most magical aspects of the city through the rooms and common areas of the hotel.

Casual Colors Barcelona is located in the Barrio de Corts, a stone's throw from Avinguda Diagonal, and close to Sants Station.

The new CEO of the company, Francesc Holgado, explained: "I am very excited that my first opening as CEO of Casual Hotels will be in the city of Barcelona, the city that has given me the opportunity to grow professionally and to which I will be eternally grateful".

The design of the hotel has been conceptualized by Raquel Sanjuan and executed by the Kalada company.

“Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city, dressed in a mosaic of ranges and textures that transform spaces into a multicolored experience. That has been the experience that we wanted to transfer to each Colors space. We want our guests, nationals and foreigners, to be able to immerse themselves in the true essence of the city”, added Raquel Sanjuan.

As in the rest of the Casual establishments, the hotel has a Save The Children room. Five percent of the income generated by this room is automatically donated to the NGO, according to an agreement signed between both institutions in 2018.

Casual Hotels was founded in Valencia in 2013 by Juan Carlos Sanjuan, current president of the company.

The company, which had to temporarily stop its activity in March 2020, as a result of the health emergency, currently has 18 hotels open in Spain and Portugal, as well as four new openings in preparation.

Work now to consolidate your financial position, reduce your net financial debt levels, and guarantee your future viability.

Casual Hotels receives the Turisme Comunitat Valenciana Award for Innovation

Casual Hotels receives the Turisme Comunitat Valenciana Award for Innovation

We are very happy to have received the Turisme Comunitat Valenciana Award for Innovation from the Valencian Tourism Agency. We would like to thank all of you who have trusted us, and who in one way or another have supported us. Clients, employees, partners and the whole family that surrounds Casual Hotels. We do not work to win awards, but so that each client feels the satisfaction of having chosen their hotel well with us. It may sound trite, but in Tourism, loyalty is achieved through effort, so the merit of this award belongs to those who have contributed their grain of sand with each action. Our main objective is to promote among our clients a concept of comfortable and innovative urban tourism, with various services included to make traveling easier. For us, "Innovate" refers to the concept of breaking with what is established, and this is where " putting the customer at the center" comes from. Thus, among our services is having free WIFI throughout the hotel and portable WIFI for the city; a baby pack for new parents, who receive a free stroller, baby carrier, anti-colic bathtub or portable crib; and recently we have also incorporated amenities and beds for pets in all our hotels.

Shared Innovation Award

But we are not alone, we have surrounded ourselves with companies and organizations that have the same philosophy as us. That is why we have numerous specialized partners in each segment, such as El Bebé Aventurero, Tiendanimal, AMAPAMU (Madrid association for multiple births), or Save The Children, with whom we have created a solidarity room in each of the hotels. All of them are equally deserving of this Turisme Comunitat Valenciana Award for Innovation. And now we would like to give the floor to our CEO Juan Carlos Sanjuán, founder of Casual Hotels and alma mater of the project: “ This award is of great value to us. On the one hand, as a Valencian chain that we are, we are proud to be a prophet in our land, since we consider that very important steps are being taken in the Community to promote a new way of doing tourism. We are proud to be part of this movement ". To which he adds an important detail: " On the other hand, being a small chain in the process of expansion, this recognition confirms that our strategy of differentiation by segments, as well as the offer of original services to our clients is an attractive value proposition for the market. We want to be innovative not only as a chain, but to promote tourism that places the traveler at the center of the process and provides them with everything they need to make their stay and knowledge of a city more comfortable .” Thank you for this Turisme Comunitat Valenciana Award for Innovation on behalf of the entire Casual Hotels team.
